What to consider?
At the point of construction, if you only do one thing ……do yourself a favor by installing some cables/wires.
Why?
- It will give you much greater flexibility in the future, especially for entertainment systems (TV & Audio)
- Systems you are very likely to install will perform better
- It will save lots of money
When starting down the path of a new home or construction project, it’s a great time to install the cabling for your move-in and future needs. The cost savings for cabling and performance for technologies are greatly improved by making some low cost decisions on your cabling. You may not have the time or energy to make all of the technology choices but a few wire drops can make a huge difference towards your audio, video, security and home automation choices.
What is the problem?
The problem isn’t budget, it’s the lack of planning
Now that the new home has been officially broken-in… with the first stain on the carpet and broken latch it’s time to re-examine how TV watching and audio entertainment will work out in the new digs.
That new TV with the 4K/UHD label doesn’t seem to work as planned on the WI-FI network…. and it sure would be nice to have a few speakers in the ceiling to support surround sound or music in selective rooms. But they just weren’t in the budget. It’s OK just to install the cables and then make the more expensive investments for AV/Security equipment later.
