Start with a base system that ties everything together

Wireless technology design can be used to establish a sound security and automation plan that fits your family. Wi-Fi has become a standard in almost every home and Wi-Fi is a great choice for PC’s and tablets and even some amount of audio and video applications. But Wi-Fi is definitely not the right choice for all security and home automation applications. The best way to set up your home applications is to ensure you are using the right wireless/frequency standards for the right purpose.  Security/door locks are best set up using the standards developed for specifically for their purpose and yet another standard for lighting, shades and thermostats. And you may want to consider cellular backup to ensure security/alarm works if your land line has been severed.

Once you have the right system …. You have control

Control Alarm, Video, Temperature, Lighting & Locking via Z-Wave: Apps for iPhone/Droid  &/or New Touchscreen/Tablet provide services you can access – Turn on/off lights and alarms; lock/unlock doors; set thermostats or set moods or scenes; view local and remote video, get email messages & video clips.

Home controls can be initiated, including indoor and outdoor lights, dimmers, thermostats, locks and small appliances operate using Z-Wave, a proven, wireless mesh networking technology that is a standard in wireless home control.  Devices can be manually activated, locally or remotely, and set to respond with custom scenes, schedules or occupancy, ie, when a room is entered lights light, temperature is increased, etc.(even when the system is disarmed.)  Anytime a  custom scene is created a button with the same name is automatically added to the Scenes Screen, so that it can later be manually activated at will.
